We are looking for compassionate, caring people to join our great staff of health care providers.

This position is a Full Time (AF) authorized hour position which offers eligibility for full time benefits, wellness incentive and PTO incentive.

Schedule: Two shifts a week as Clerical and one shift a week as Patient Care Technician.

The Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) is a 13-bed critical care unit which specializes in caring for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.  The staff on MSICU offers comprehensive, patient- centered care within a unit which contains all private rooms with ample space for patient care, equipment, staff and visitors.

This unit has been designed to promote patient comfort and staff efficiency, with necessary items located conveniently for the caregivers.  The nursing staff works closely with intensivists, hospitalists, general surgeons, vascular surgeons and cardiothoracic surgeons to ensure the best care possible for our patients.

The staff within MSICU promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and positive communication between coworkers which supports a collaborative work environment.  The staff within the unit is very knowledgeable in regards to quality standards of care.  Nurses working on this unit receive training in 12-lead EKG, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS in addition to specific education regarding care of the critical care patient.

We promote an environment of continuing education by supporting certifications and advanced degrees.

Patient Care Technicians provide direct patient care as delegated by a registered nurse and in cooperation with other team members. Duties performed by PCT include helping patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, nourishment and other treatments and procedures.

Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety for a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004).  The PCT must be able to demonstrate growth and development knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patient served.  Employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.  PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patient's rights in all aspects of patient care and reports issue to appropriate person.  The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities.

The Patient Care Technician is a member of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction of the RN, which provides or assists with basic patient care requirements, treatments and procedures.  Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort. Assist professional staff with basic life support principles.

Certifications
Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire.

Education and Experience
The Patient Care Technician position requires the completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) and be18 years old.  Previous patient care or nursing assistant experience desired.  Successfully completes PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
