Reporting to the PRN Educational Institute (PEI) Chief Academic Officer, Institution Director or Lead Instructor, the Instructor will provide assistance with the Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic and/or other EMS training and education, providing instructional support.


  • Confers with Lead Instructor to maintain current knowledge of clinical demands and work expectations in the out-of-hospital setting.
  • Consults with the Lead Instructor to support teaching outlines and determine instructional methods for laboratory skills practice and demonstrations, as well as individual remedial or tutorial programs.
  • Conducts course sessions covering specified areas required to support course objective/curriculum, statute or regulation and consistent with current science and accepted standards of clinical practice in the out-of-hospital setting.
  • Monitors progress of students in the educational program. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone's responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered.  Report information systems security problems.
  • Ability to write educational and grade reports, professional correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of students, managers and the general public.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Prior training experience as an Field Training Officer
  • Minimum 1-3 years progressive experience in a field/clinical setting as EMT, Paramedic or Emergency Nurse
  • MUST be currently licensed or certified by the state of California as an EMT, Paramedic or RN.
  • Must be willing to participate in ongoing training and career development
  • Must portray a positive company and institutional image at all times.
  • Must be computer literate (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must maintain current industry standards through continuing education
  • Must maintain current licensure in the following:
    • EMT/Paramedic/RN
    • CPR or any other related AHA courses in relation to certification level
    • Any other applicable federal, state or county license


  • High school or general education degree (GED) required
  • Current CA state licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or RN
  • AHA BLS Instructor preferred
  • AHA ACLS Instructor preferred
  • PALS Instructor preferred
  • Experience and certifications appropriate to subject matter being taught is required.


  • Must be able to perform the following tasks:
  • Walk - frequently, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Stand - frequently, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Sit - frequently, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Kneel - frequently, 10-15 times per day.
  • Bend - frequently, 10-15 times per day.

Must have adequate hearing acuity to perform job tasks Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to clearly distinguish colors, shapes, distances, etc. Must have adequate hand and finger dexterity to grip and hold both large and small items Must have adequate hand and arm strength to grip and lift heavy objects Must be able to tolerate working in a variety of settings to include, indoor office as well as outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, etc.)

Must be able to sufficiently operate a Computer keyboard, and have basic knowledge of computers and Windows software, media systems to run PowerPoint presentations, photocopiers, telephones, calculator and other office related equipment.
