The following minimum qualifications are required at the time of application unless noted otherwise:

Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.

Must possess a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District. Firefighter Endorsement will be required by end of probationary period.

**NOTE: For out-of-state candidates: Must possess a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District by the time of appointment. Firefighter Endorsement will be required by end of probationary period.

Must possess a California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I certification under the 2001 curriculum or proof of completion of a California State Fire Marshal accredited Firefighter I Academy under the 2013 curriculum by the time of application. If your Firefighter I Academy certification predates 2013, your application will not be considered for review.

**NOTE: For candidates with Department of Defense (DoD) or out-of-state certifications: Must possess a Fire Fighter I Certificate issued by another State or the Department of Defense (DoD) with an IFSAC and/or Pro Board seal. You will be required to provide proof of Fire Fighter I certificates. If the Fire Fighter I certificate is issued by another State or the DoD you will be required to provide certificates with IFSAC and/or Pro Board seals showing you are certified to Fire Fighter I and HazMat Awareness/FRO.

Must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license with ACLS certification at time of application. ACLS certification must be equivalent to AHA ACLS standards and include a hands-on skills demonstration sign off consistent with standard ACLS protocol. One year of paramedic experience preferred.

**NOTE: For out-of-state candidates: Must possess a valid National Registry certification and valid ACLS certification at time of application. ACLS certification must be equivalent to AHA ACLS standards and include a hands-on skills demonstration sign off consistent with standard ACLS protocol. Must have applied for a State of California Paramedic license by time of application and must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license by time of appointment. One year of paramedic experience preferred.

A Health Care Provider CPR certificate/card consistent with AHA, including a skills component, is also required at time of application.

Current PHTLS or ITLS and PALS or PEPP certifications required by time of final offer of employment. Candidates must present valid certificates in order to receive a final offer of employment.

Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) issued after January 1, 2016, by time of conditional offer. CPAT not required for lateral appointments.

Must be a California resident by time of appointment.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
