Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or a high school
proficiency certificate.
Secondary course work in fire science, fire technology, fire prevention, fire
protection engineering, or a closely related field desirable.
An associate degree is highly recommended, a bachelor's degree from an
accredited college with major coursework in a field applicable to the services
provided by the District is desirable.
California Fire Service Training and Education System (CFSTES) Fire
Investigation 1A and 1B or certification as a Fire Investigator 1 with the
California State Fire Marshal's office. OR
Certification as a Certified Fire Investigator I (CFII) with the International
Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) or equivalent.
CFSTES Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D or equivalent.
Certification as an ICC Inspector 1 or Inspector 2 waives this requirement.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in fire and building code
enforcement of which three years are in a supervisory capacity.
Special Requirements:
Possession and maintenance of a Class "C" California driver's license and
satisfactory driving record.
Possession and maintenance of a California State Fire Marshal Fire Prevention
Officer I certificate or ICC Fire Inspector 1 required.
PC 832 module A; Arrest course required.
PC 832 module B; Firearms course desirable.
